The Certified Consumer Receivables Counselor™ was developed to provide individuals working in the Collections Industry with the tools they need to successfully collect delinquent debt and financially educate the debtors they come into contact with.

The Center for Financial Certifications® recognizes the need for debtors to be better served through proper communication techniques and financial education.

This comprehensive program is designed to allow individuals in the collections industry to educate debtors about money management (budgeting), credit, debt management, investing, retirement, and insurance. With a stronger understanding of personal finance, a CCRC™ can help debtors better manage their finances to avoid becoming repeat debtors.

By improving interpersonal skills and collectors’ understanding of the regulations that govern their job, collectors will be able to maximize their professional success while enhancing the financial future of the debtors they work with.

Course Outline

Part I of the training manual discusses the skills that individuals collecting delinquent receivables need to be successful. This includes but is not limited to using and understanding technology and honing people skills. This information is meant to compliment the on the job training that collectors receive.

Part II of the training manual presents the fundamentals of financial management; money management; credit; debt management; investing and retirement and insurance.

Part III of the training manual discusses the federal regulations that collectors need to be aware of when performing their jobs.

Part IV is the Resource Guide, which includes worksheets, a glossary, forms, website information, the Code of Ethics and a practice exam.
