The Certified Educator in Personal Finance® was developed to provide professional development and training to those who work with clients in a group or community setting.

This comprehensive program is designed to allow financial educators working in a group setting to teach clients to establish personal budgets,evaluate debt loads, set financial goals and develop plans of action.

Certification ensures that individuals have been trained and tested in teaching skills and the elements of financial management, as well as strategies for developing and delivering effective lesson plans. Referencing National Standards and Best Practices in K-12 Personal Finance Education created by the Jump$tart Coalition and the National Standards for Adult Financial Literacy Education developed by the Institute for Financial Literacy, educators will learn what comprises a sound financial education program. Upon completion of the program, the CEPF® will have the essential tools needed to further their professional advancement and help clients change ineffective money management patterns. 

Course Outline:
Part I of the training manual details techniques for the proper development and delivery of lesson plans. Educators will become familiar with many factors and components that contribute to an informative lesson plan as well as different teaching techniques and presentation methods tailored to different learning styles.

Part II of the training manual details the fundamentals of financial management; money management; credit; debt management; investing; and retirement and insurance.

Part III of the training manual addresses ethics for financial educators.

Part IVdiscusses the National Standards and Best Practices in K-12 Personal Financial Education, and the National Standards for Adult Financial Literacy Education.

Part V is the Resource Guide, which includes worksheets, a glossary, forms, website information, the Code of Ethics and a practice exam.
